ABACUS
Proview ABACUS is a skill development programme designed for children from 5 to 14 years age.
What is ABACUS?
The tool used by our programme is ABACUS. It was founded 2000 years ago and is universally used. This concept is popular in CHINA, MALAYSIA, AUSTRALIA and now in INDIA. The abacus, also called a counting frame, is a calculating tool used primarily in parts of Asia for performing arithmetic processes. Today, abacuses are often constructed as a bamboo frame with beads sliding on wires, but originally they were beans or stones moved in grooves in sand or no tablets of wood, stone or metal. The abacus was in use centuries before the adoption of the written modern numeral system and is still widely used by merchants, traders and clerks in Asia, Africa and elsewhere. The user of an abacus is called an abacist. Abacus consists of the strings enclosed in retangular frame. It has beads on each string enclosed in rectangular frame. It has beads on each string and each bead has a unique value associated with it. The abacus is usedto teach children where they use both hands to manipulate the beads. Initially we teach them calculations on abacus and then abacus is withdrawn. They use image of abacus built-in their minds. This enables them to achieve a high level of speed, efficiency, accuracy, concentration and increase in memory power. Abacus Trend child is able to calculate 10-15 times faster than the normal child.
Benefits of ABACUS?
Science has proved that brain, which has been divided into two parts left and right hemispheres, is utilized only 2-3% during lift time. Left brain is concerned with analytical information whereas right brain with creativity and imagination. Almost 97-98% people use their left brain as the left brain controls our right hand and right brain controls our left hand, there are two modes of thinking: verbal and non- verbal, represented rather separately in left and right hemispheres respectively and that our education system, as well as science in general, tends to neglect the non-verbal form of intellect. What it comes down to is that creativity is lost with growing years and hence the ability to memorize is also weakened. Scientific research reveals that a very small percentage of people use their right brain and those who use it are bound to reach the top. Our programme is meant for whole brain development, especially right part of brain. It improves creativity imagination, idea generation, memory, speed & accuracy etc. and these skills last a lifetime. Children where they use both hands to manipulate the beads.
